Visitor Visa Application – Subclass 600
The Visitor Visa Application allows holders to visit Australia for three, six or twelve months. There are five streams of the subclass 600 visa, including the Tourist Stream, Business Visitor Stream, Sponsored Family Stream, Approved Destination Stream and the Frequent Traveller Stream.
All applicants are required to complete a Visitor Visa Application form and meet the common criteria. If applicable, the applicant must be able to demonstrate that they have complied with any previous visa conditions, has adequate means to support themselves while in Australia, satisfies all public interest criteria including character and medical assessment and hold 12 months health insurance cover.
Unlike other visas, family members cannot be included on one applications. Family members who wish to travel to Australia will be required to lodge a separate visa application.
The Tourist Stream is designed for applicants to visit Australia for any purpose that is not related to business or medical treatment. The applicant must be able to show that they are travelling to Australia as a genuine visitor as a tourist, for recreation or to visit family and friends.
Business Visitor Stream
The Business Visitor stream is for applicants who wish to travel to Australia for a short business visit. The applicant must be able to show their business background and that you have a good business reason for travelling to Australia.
The activities that are permitted include, making general business or employment enquiries, investigating, negotiating, signing or renewing a business contract, activities carried out as part of an official government-to-government visit, participating in conferences, trade fairs or seminars.
Visitor Visa holders are not permitted to undertake any work or providing goods or services to a business or person based in Australia or sell goods or services directly to the Australian public.
Sponsored Family Stream | Visitor Visa
This stream requires that the applicant has a family member who is an Australian Citizen or Australia Permanent Resident
An Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident may be asked to sponsor an applicant for a visitor visa in the tourist stream. Sponsors are required to guarantee that the applicant will leave Australia when they are required to. Sponsors may be required to pay a security bond of between AUD5,000 and AUD15,000, refunded when the visitor leaves before their visa expires and having complied with all conditions of the visa.
Approved Destination Stream
This stream allows for citizens or permanent residents in the area of the People’s Republic of China who wish to travel to Australia as part of a tour organised by a travel agent for the purpose of sightseeing and related activities.
Frequent Traveller Stream
Is for citizens of the People’s Republic of China who wish to travel on frequent, short visits to Australia for tourism, visiting family or friends or business visit purposes. The frequent traveller stream of the subclass 600 visa can only be applied for online and applicants are required to provide biometric identifiers through an Australian Visa Application Centre in China.
This visitor visa application may be granted for up to 10 years, however the visa holder can only stay for three months on each visit to Australia. The visa holder can also not stay in Australia for more than 12 months in a 24 month period.
