Amidst the Coronavirus outbreak Chinese student visa holders see the impact of the travel ban.

The Australian government has requested that the Chinese government ease internet censorship laws, in order for Chinese students to be able to access and successfully complete their university course work in China. It has been estimated that 15 000 Chinese students who currently hold a student visa continue to remain in China following the travel restrictions.

Chinese nationals fear becoming unlawful whilst locked out of the country

Chinese nationals are becoming increasingly concerned that their Australian visas will expire or become invalid due to the travel restrictions in place. Requests to the Department of Home Affairs are being made to fast-track the applications process to avoid unlawful status Chinese nationals within Australia.
