The Importance of Decision Ready Applications  – How Using a Lawyer Can Help Save Your Application

From 18 November 2017 the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (‘DIBP’) have announced that they will be prioritising Decision Ready Applications. This means applications that are submitted with ALL the required paper work and documentation. Applications that are not decision ready can now be refused in a matter of 28 days.

Recently a client came to Immigration Solutions Lawyers with a Subclass 457 Nomination and Visa application, which she had lodged herself and was not decision ready. She had received a requisition from the Department requesting significant additional documents and questioning certain answers that were provided.

Government requisitions can be complicated to deal with, and generally the DIBP only provides 28 days for applicants to respond. ISL took over the nomination application and responded to the requisition, working with the clients to ensure that all the required documents were provided, and supplying written submissions to accompany them. Our client received an approval on their nomination application 24 hours later.
