Changes to the Temporary Work Visas

The Assistant Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Michaelia Cash, made changes on the 14th of November to the Temporary Work visas. The changes include the expansion of the list of foreign nationals eligible to apply for Temporary Work visas online. The affected visa is the Temporary Work (subclass 400) visa, and the changes commenced on the 23rd of November.

The list of eligible nationals now eligible to apply online includes almost two hundred countries. This will make a significant change; the online applications are both easier and considerably faster than the paper applications. These changes eliminate the need for paper filings to be posted, as well as the need for in-person visits which will streamline the application process for sponsoring employers.

The Migration Regulations 1994 has listed 197 countries and territories that are now eligible for online applications. The complete list can be viewed on the ComLaw website here.

This change is very beneficial, as not only will it speed-up processing times but it will also streamline the whole application process.
